ACi to launch Centrino-based notebookÂ

Allied Computers International (ACi) is launching a Centrino-based notebook called Centurion this week, which will be priced at Rs 99,990. This new processor is a low-powered CPU giving high battery life. The battery would last upto 4.5 hours, claims ACi. This notebook would be having 1 MB cache compared to the regular 512 KB cache, and would have a processor upto 1.4 GHz. The weight of this notebook would be just 2.4 kg.

"Unlike the earlier notebooks, the cache is higher here, which is a major advantage due to which higher speed processors are not required. ACi solely being a notebook vendor will continuously bring about the latest product," claimed Hirji Patel, Chairman and MD, ACi Asia.

Meanwhile, ACi has dropped its plans to launch the tablet PC as reported earlier by the media. But now will be coming out with a notebook-cum-tablet PC. "We dropped the idea because the Indian market is not ready for a tablet PC. The notebook is a accepted product today, therefore ACi changed its plans," clarified Patel. This new tablet PC-cum-notebook will be based on the Centrino technology and will weigh 1.4 kg. The vendor was not able to reveal the price of the product.

ACi has also been expanding its franchisee network, which presently stands at just eight. It has plans to add 16 franchises across the country by the end of this year. Franchise offices have been set up in Kolkata, Jodhpur, Hyderabad, Jaipur, Bangalore, Goa, Pune, Chennai and Delhi.
