The Ahmedabad Computer Merchants Association (ACMA) recently conducted its annual election for the formation of its new executive committee. Rushikesh Patani of Future Infotech was elected as the President of the association while Kaushik Pandya of Kalp Systems is the new VP. Rakesh Patel of Datatech Computers takes over, as the General Secretary while Kirti Thakkar of Meet Marketing is the new Treasurer.
Commenting on his new responsibility the new president Patani, who earlier was the VP of ACMA, said, “The responsibilities of the president of the association at this stage are very high as ACMA is on the road to progress and is aiming to emerge as India's leading association.”
He further added, “The major challenge for us will be to increase the number of members to 400 this year and motivate members to take lifetime membership which is for the period of 10 years. We do not want any members to face financial losses and also we are looking at devising ways to avoid any undercutting in the business.”
Kaushik Pandya, VP, ACMA noted, “We would monitor and make sure that ACMA's recommended policies like AMC rates, end user policy etc are implemented. Warranty norms clarification from manufacturing companies and distributors etc will also be implemented.”
One of the major concerns at ACMA is that members follow healthy business practices. “We do not encourage unethical business practices. We have defined rules to avoid any mishap in financial transactions,” Pandya added.
Showing his concern on the growing fraud cases Patani said, “Though fraud cases in Ahmedabad are not so common as in North India but whenever they have happened, partners have incurred huge losses. I want our members to check the credibility of the party with which they are dealing and get proper references. Also if any member comes to know of any dealer with doubtful credence they should inform the association so that other partners can be cautioned.”
Patani also announced the agenda for the current year for the association which includes organizing ACMA IT show 2006; increasing the number of ACMA membership and taking it to 400; increasing awareness of ACMA in IT trade as well as in public; printing directory for the year 2006-07; to publish ACMA end-user policy and guidelines and getting ACMA advertisements in newspapers for end users and publish member's directory at the time of IT show.
