Audigy 2 from Creative

Creative Technology has announced the shipping of Sound Blaster Audigy 2
sound cards. The sound card delivers 106 dB SNR (Sound to noise ratio) and comes
with THX certification and can deliver 6.1 surround sound from Dolby Digital EX
movies. The Audigy 2 enables 24-bit/96 KHz recording and also offers Creative
MediaSource player for a variety of digital music enhancements, including up-mix
of stereo MP3 music into full 6.1 surround sound.

This sound card enables users to experience advanced resolution DVD audio
with 24-bit/96 KHz sound quality. Audigy 2 incorporates Sound Blaster 24-bit
advanced HD performance.

Sound Blaster Audigy 2 adds one SB1394 FireWire port to the PC. Its Platinum
variant includes a second SB1394 port. On the software front, the sound card
comes with smart volume management, Creative multi-surround system and
integrated audio modules enabling Internet radio and full bit-rate encoding on
MP3 and WMAs and recording with audio stream recorder 2.0.

Both
the Sound Blaster Audigy 2 and its Platinum variant allows simultaneous digital
and analog connectivity to devices such as MIDI instruments, external digital
audio devices and headphones. A remote control is included with the Audigy 2
Platinum.
