BITA, ABITA elections delayed

In the wake of floods in Gujarat, two channel associations of the region-Baroda IT Association
(BITA) and Ankleshwar Bharuch IT Association (ABITA) had to postpone their annual elections, scheduled to be held earlier this month. Now, it will be held either this week or in early August, informed the respective office bearers. 

The IT dealers in the region have faced heavy loses due to the floods. The association members could not even meet to decide the fate of election process. They were too occupied with restoring normalcy to their day-to-day business. Amit Shah, Secretary, BITA said, “Right now, our priority is to recover the losses we have suffered due to floods. We were not able to meet to decide on the association's election. However, I have sent a mail to the members to fix up a date. Hopefully, the elections will happen soon.” 

ABITA had to postpone elections because the association members could not stick to their tradition of traveling to a location to hold elections. Manish Shah, President, ABITA said, “For elections, every year we go some place. Last year, we went to Goa and held our elections there. This year, due to floods, the roads and railway routes of Gujarat were disrupted. Hence we could not travel. This apart, due to floods some dealers could not deliver their goods to other locations in time and were busy re-organizing that.” ABITA is planning to hold elections in the first week of August.
