Computex 2008 goes green

Taiwan’s flagship global event for electronics segment—Computex 2008 has received excellent response from the green quarters of technology. A list of companies from Asustek, MSI to Foxconn have showcased some of the latest ‘Green Wonders’ for saving on the energy front and basically getting more out of technology.

At the ongoing Computex, Foxconn is showcasing its ‘cherish the earth’ campaign wherein the company has introduced green series motherboard targeted at delivering energy efficiency and at the same time rewarding the end-user with lower total cost of ownership (TCO).

Similarly, under its green initiative, MSI has introduced ‘ride with the wind’ and ‘helps you breath’ notebooks. The first is directed towards delivering lightweight notebooks that consuming less power to end-users, the second one has got the capability to release up to 5,00,000 ions per cc.

Focusing on the greener side, Asus has introduced its green design server RS160-ES. According to the company officials, this product is equipped with high power efficiency power supply to reduce power loss of upto 45 percent.

Turning towards the greener side, Gigabyte has introduced its GA EP45 DSS motherboard. This product features ultra durable 2 design and dynamic energy saver (DES). According to the company, DES advanced with improved algorithms that provide a more accurate power saving calculation.

In addition to all these products, a number of biggies from Taiwan like Acer, Asus, Gigabyte etc have taken the advantage of an international platform to launch their ultra mobile PC range—all of them based on Intel’s energy saving atom platform.

While most of these companies are showcasing technological advancement, green is certainly one of the primary areas where they are putting a lot of emphasis.
