HCL appoints Universal Microsystems as distributor

Universal Microsystems has replaced Elite Peripherals Ltd as the new distributor for HCL´s monitors, keyboards and networking products in Chennai. The company plans to appoint a distributor in Pondicherry in within a fortnight. Currently, HCL Peripherals, a group company of HCL Corporation, has a network of 14 distributors and 125 dealer partners across the country. 

HCL Peripherals, which had forayed into the manufacturing of LCD monitors last year, has come up with two more new models in LCD monitors - HCM 500 LSA (LCD sleek audio) and HCM 700 LSA. The HCM 500 model is priced at Rs 29,990 and HCM 700 LSA model is available at Rs 37,990. 

As part of a promotion the on this new range of LCD monitors, the company is conducting roadshows called LCD Utsav. Ending this month, the LCD Utsav would begin at Ritchie Street, the IT hub of Tamil Nadu, before taking it to other parts of the country. It is conducting roadshows focused on the vertical segments and would be targeting the Software Technology Parks, corporate, educational institutions and the government departments. 

"We are now focussed more on channel partners, for they contribute 25 % of our revenue and we would like to increase this share further. We are keen on enrolling VARs than box-pushers," said VR Kirubakaran, Manager ­ Marketing, HCL Peripherals. 

The company´s new range of LCD monitors come with in-built speakers. It has no radiation and has very less power consumption. The maximum resolution for HCM 500 LSA monitor is 1024x768 at 75 Hz, whereas the maximum resolution for 700 LSA is 1280x1024 at 75 Hz. The monitors come with VESA mounting options and are available in black color. 

HCL has also launched the 19-inch CRT (Cathode Ray Tube) monitor. In CRT, HCL has launched normal as well as flat monitors in 14-inch, 15-inch and 17-inch. In LCD range, the monitors are available in 15 inch and 17 inch (with and without speaker) and 18-inch without speakers.
