HCL Infosystems re-strategized to cash in on its mobile business. It also held on to its #5 position in the Silver Club.

The financial year 2002-03 was a year of mixed success for HCL Insys. While its business in the communication and imaging line of products grew well, the overall agency revenues dipped to Rs 296 crore in 2002-03 as against Rs 352 crore in 2001-02.

Being the sole distributor of Nokia and given the booming telecom market, the company increased focus on its mobile phone business. Even though company's overall agency operations experienced a de-growth, it held on to its fifth position in the Silver Club.

Last year, the company saw consolidation and re-organization of its hardware and services business. The company also provided value-added services in areas like SAP implementation, software applications, networking consultancy and hardware solutions. One of the key factors driving company’s business was its focus on offering integrated solutions to customers.

According to Satinder Juneja, Spokesperson, HCL Insys, “The company cashed on with the distribution of Nokia mobile phones and with the boom of mobile telephony, the company’s growth was also synonymous.”

Among other focus areas, the company tapped the vertical segments of telecom and banking. On the PC front, it introduced systems at Rs 25,000 and emerged top in the home segment.

The company also worked closely with partners and launched various promotional schemes and organized roadshows. This was primarily done to increase company's presence in smaller cities.
