HCL PCs with Unicode-based local language

HCL Infosystems Ltd is offering the first batch of Unicode-based local
language PCs equipped with the MS Proofing tool. A part of its Infiniti range of
desktops, the PCs will be local language enabled, and as of now support Hindi,
Tamil, Kannada, Gujarati, Telugu, Marathi, Gurmukhi, Sanskrit and Konkani.

The entry level price of the PCs is flexible, as it would depend on the
configurations requested by the consumer.

The MS Proofing tool is pegged at Rs 4,500. The multilingual proofing tool
enables users to type in multiple keyboards, use auto-correct, carry out spell
checks, apply custom animation, save names and give document passwords using
Microsoft XP.

Additional features include Smart tags, track and give comments, send
e-mails, sort and create databases.

Though there are local language systems already available in the market, none
of the local language fonts have been in conformation with the Unicode standard
so far.
