Maxtor launches Maxtor Shared Storage solution

Maxtor Corporation, provider of hard disk drives and consumer storage products, has announced its Maxtor Shared Storage solution that lets home or small office/home office
(SOHO) users easily centralize, organize and share data, photos or music on a wired or wireless network.

According to the press release, the solution is simple to install with automatic network configuration, and comes with Maxtor's exclusive Drag and Sort technology that helps users organize their data on the network. Once set up is complete, each networked PC user automatically receives a desktop icon with access to a shared public folder as well as their own set of personal private network folders.

The Maxtor Shared Storage solution comes in a 200GB or 300GB storage capacity, and includes two USB ports to connect and share two USB printers or two additional external storage drives, or one of each. The estimated street price for the 300GB solution is Rs 18,716.88 and for the 200GB solution is Rs 14,037.

Maxtor has also announced that the company will be shipping its next-generation 3.5-inch 7200RPM 3.0Gb SATA and ATA 133 hard drives with capacity points up to 500GB in the third quarter of this year. The new capacity will span the company's line of products, including Maxtor QuickView (consumer electronics —
DVR/STBs, DVD/HDD combo devices), MaXLine (enterprise applications), DiamondMax (desktop), Maxtor Shared Storage (easy add-on storage for a home network) and Maxtor OneTouch (simple external storage and backup) brand hard drives.
