Microline develops applications for PDAs

Microline India, a company engaged in networking integration, has got into software development. It has developed three
applications for PDAs. Called Pigmy Plus, the first solution is meant for pygmy agents who usually work
for co-operative banks and co-operative credit societies. Until now, daily collection agents went door-to-door, collecting funds through manual
entries giving rise to fraudulent practices. With the software, customers can know
their balance, weekly and monthly collection instantly, which increases the transparency between the customer and the pygmy agent. The product is
currently in being tested by a few co-operative banks in Pune. Pigmy Plus is likely to hit the market in the next three months.

Microline has developed another product for airline schedules targeted at the elite segment like frequent fliers. The product is
likely to be launched along with Pygmy Plus.

The third product has been specially developed for Kirloskar Oil Engines. The PDA-based software would help the sales staff
of the company assist customers to select the correct diesel engine model in terms of horsepower.
Once the customer defines his or her requirements, the data is fed into the PDA and information is immediately available on the right kind of engine.

Microline CEO Vinayak Apte says that the company is currently in talks with major national distributors for these products.
With its entry into the area of software development, he expects around 15% of company revenues to come
in from these products, another 15-18% from services and the rest from networking.
