Microsoft to host security seminars

Microsoft Corporation India would host a five-city security seminar starting May 9, 2005. The event will address representatives from the IT professional, developer, government, academic and the system integrator and ISV community. It is aimed at helping them deploy a comprehensive security framework that protects their IT investments. 

The event will be kicked off in Mumbai and will travel to Chennai, Hyderabad, Bangalore and finally come to a close in New Delhi. According to the company, the seminar will be addressed by a host of international and local experts from Microsoft. It will combine a mix of technical and strategy sessions. Day one of the seminar will include sessions aimed at the developer and IT professional community and are open to all, while day two will comprise invite only sessions for the other audiences. 

A part of Microsoft's Trustworthy Computing initiative, this road show is aimed at generating awareness about developing a holistic approach to implementing a secure IT infrastructure-one that addresses issues related to people, processes and technology. The event will be held in New Delhi on May 18, 19 and May 20. 

Commenting on the seminar, Microsoft India Director, Sanjiv Mathur said, "As IT strengthens its role as a strategic business tool, security has emerged as the most important issue for IT decision makers worldwide. For Indian businesses, IT security needs to be a high priority -the lack of a stringent security framework both at the corporate and policy level can actually impact the success of Indian businesses in an increasingly competitive global landscape." The biggest road block to deploying a secure IT is the lack of awareness about what it comprises.
