With the margins in most sectors showing a constant decline, the only avenue, which has become the last resort for the resellers in the market is
the government sector. With the coming of the end of this financial year, the government buying has generated a lot of momentum in the market. Seeing
the ample opportunity that this sector can provide, Modi Peripherals too has started to shift its focus on this sector.

"As compared to the other sectors where the margins have shrunk to two-three percent, in the government sector we can hope to make a margin of upto five
percent," pointed out Shyam Modi, Director, Modi Peripherals.

He added, "For this particular purpose we have formed a separate team which would be looking after this particular section only. Apart from this, we
have registered ourselves with the NCCF and DGS&D, government agencies to whom we quote the prices on particular products and based on this get orders
from the government. Right now we have registered only for the HP-Compaq products but would start with other products too."

Meanwhile, Modi Peripherals has also ventured into dealing in Epson dot matrix printers (DMPs) and digital cameras from Kodak. In the last few
months digital cameras have become the latest fad amongst the resellers. And the Nehru Place-based channel player is one of the latest to join the race.

Citing reasons for this new move, Modi said, "As far as Epson's DMP is concerned we see a huge market in this area. We are particularly looking at
certain markets like invoicing, small offices, the balance sheet market, etc. We basically want to attract the end-users and the resellers which is
the main aim of ours in foraying into this segment." Apart from this, the company will start giving onsite warranty and will be starting service
centers soon for the products.

Coming to the foray into the world of digital cameras, Modi said, "This market will see a phenomenal increase in the coming months and after seeing
the market that this sector was garnering we decided to enter into this segment."

The main audience that it is targeting is the home segment, the designers and those in the printing business. Right now the company has started with
five models ranging between Rs 9,000 to Rs 32,000. "In future we also plan to bundle photosmart printers with Kodak cameras," revealed
Modi.
