New camera from Panasonic

Panasonic Asia Pacific Pte Ltd launched Iris recognition camera system, a
biometric device designed to provide access control and security solutions along
with surveillance and monitoring with its iris mapping features. The product is
embedded with a technology that overcomes the limitations of conventional ID and
verification technology such as keys, ID cards and password as it reads the iris
of the eyes to verify the identity of authorized persons. It is based on the
technology to read and map the structure of an individual's iris and stores it
for verification.

Iris recognition camera system is application-oriented product and is
available in the market through few channels, one of them is Delhi-based 4G
Infomatics. Besides iris recogni­tion camera, Panasonic also launched an
interactive electronic whiteboard, a projector screen and an electronic print
board with printer rolled into one. The product is available with seven primary
channel partners and 240 secondary partners across the country and Panasonic is
aiming to increase the numbers to 10 and 243 respectively by March 2007.
