Numeric enters 3-phase UPS segment

UPS-system
manufacturer Numeric Power Systems has entered 3-phase UPS segment, by its
joining of hands with a French-based company, Socomec SA, to market the
latter's products in India.

Disclosing the
details to the media, founder and managing director of Numeric, R Chellappan,
said, “For this purpose, we have formed a new joint venture called Socomec-Numeric
UPS (P) Ltd, which will have an equal partnership, with an initial capital of Rs
2 crore. This would go up to Rs 10 crore by year-end.”

He said that the
new company would be targeting revenue of Rs 8 crore in the first year.

”Numeric has
captured 70 per cent of the market in the single-phase UPS segment and with this
new venture, we will enter into the 3-phase UPS segment,” he informed.

Jean-Marc Gautier,
managing director of Socomec UPS Asia, said, “We would not rule out the
possibility of setting up a manufacturing base in India.”

Socomec UPS would be imported from various factories located in Italy, France
and China.
