Sahara Computers acquires SES Tech

Lucknow-based Sahara Computers and Electronics Ltd (SCEL), a joint venture between the South African IT major, Sahara Computers (SCPL), and Sahara India Pariwar, has signed a MoU for the acquisition of SES Technologies, the Mumbai-based distribution house. It will help expand its penetration significantly in India. SES shall continue to trade under its current name and style.

According to George Van Der Merwe, COO, SCEL, "This acquisition will enhance our footprint across the country while adding value to the existing presence in the country today. Together we will be able to meet the ever-increasing needs of our customers. We expect it to help fulfill our vision to provide our customers with a comprehensive line of products and services. A key factor in the decision to acquire SES was that we share similar corporate culture and philosophy for quality products and industry leading customer service."

We also respect the highly successful formula that Sahara Computers has been able to achieve in all its international operations. The organization has grown over the decade through its strong channel partner network and strong association with major international vendors.”

The company has a strong strength and network of more than 5,000 channel partners and continued association with major international vendors. SES provides a combination of distribution, service support and manufacturing. The company has targeted to achieve an even rapid growth in the coming years seizing the opportunities and consolidating on its strengths.

The acquisition is important for SCEL in that it allows SCEL to leverage off the wide range of vendor agencies, infrastructure, skilled and experienced sales and support staff across the country and an excellent infrastructure.

It may be recalled that SCEL recently entered the Indian market with the launch of desktops, laptops and servers. It has also announced its foray into the lifestyle segment leveraging on its international expertise. The company's initial manufacturing plant, based in Noida, will supply a broad range of IT products that will include computers, servers, laptops and peripherals through 25 distribution hubs covering all major states in India. Its regional offices are located at Mumbai, New Delhi, Chennai, Kolkata, Bangalore, Hyderabad and
Lucknow.

Established in 1997, SCPL assembles and markets computers and peripherals through a global distribution network that covers both established and emerging markets. The company is based in Johannesburg, South Africa and is the official distributor and OEM for a variety of top international vendors. Some of its key partners include AMD, Creative, Epson, Intel, Microsoft, MSI, Samsung, Symantec, etc.
