Systems Management Server 2003 from Microsoft

Microsoft Corporation India announced the availability of its Systems
Management Server 2003 (SMS 2003). Targeted at enterprise customers, the
software includes improved management capabilities that address the areas of
security patch management, application deployment, asset management, mobility
and Windows management services integration.

Available through Microsoft distributors across India, SMS 2003 is priced at
Rs 50,000 for 10-user licenses of the enterprise edition. SMS 2003 supports a
full management feature set, including software distribution, asset management
and remote troubleshooting, without requiring a set of local servers or
services.

On the security front, Microsoft has incorporated vulnerability
identification, assessment and mitigation reporting as well as a patch
deployment wizard in SMS 2003. SMS will soon offer greater support for mobile
devices, including Windows CE, XP embedded, and Pocket PC, through a new
Advanced Client that automatically checks the size of the connection and adjusts
transfer rates as needed.
