VIA introduces C3 1 GHz processor

VIA Technologies Inc announced the new VIA C3 1GHz series of processors for
PCs. The new VIA C3 1 Ghz processor has been developed for small and quiet PCs.
The VIA C3 1 Ghz processor with a typical power consumption of 5.7 watts, only
requires a standard small fan and heat sink to operate even in tough thermal
conditions.

The VIA C3 1GHz processor boasts the world’s smallest x86 processor die
size and industry leading 0.13 micron manufacturing process. The VIA C3 has
advanced features like 128 KB Level 1 and 64KM Level 2 cache, 100/133 MHz Front
Side Bus and 3Dnow! and MMX, to deliver good performance for the home, business
and education user.

It is expected to be priced nearly 33 percent lower than the equivalent Intel
Celeron processor.
