Gigabyte introduces Nvidia chipset mobo

Gigabyte Technology debuted a motherboard GA-K8N51GMF-9, featuring High
Definition Video for the AMD64 platform. Powered by NVIDIA GeForce 6100 GPU and
nForce430 MCP, this platform targets Media-Center Systems with graphics features
and security.

The GA-K8N51GMF-9 is a solution for digital media enthusiasts
who are looking for home theater quality sound effects. With the Nvidia Cine FX

Creative debuts enhanced DiVi CAM 428

Creative Technology introduced the DiVi CAM 428, an all-in-one mini digital
camcorder featuring video recorder, digital camera, voice recorder and MP3
player. Available in two stylish colors — Striking Silver and Intense Black
— the DiVi CAM 428 can record MPEG-4 movies in 640 x 480 (VGA) resolutions at
30 frames per second speed.

With a 4.0 Megapixel CCD sensor, the DiVi CAM 428 can capture
sharp images with vibrant colors, even under dimly-lit environments. Users can
even opt to capture images at a whopping 8.0 megapixels. It can also facilitate
MP3 playing and voice recording, and doubles up as a portable storage device.

Quantum unveils tape drive for SMBs

Quantum made available the DLT-V4 drive-that establishes a threshold in backup,
recovery and archive for SMB customers. The product's features include DLTSage
for predictive and preventive diagnostic manageability and DLTIce for meeting
regulatory compliance requirements through standard media and Write Once Read
Many (WORM) capability.

DLT-V4, priced at a sub-$1000 price meets near and long-term
storage needs, either as a stand-alone product or as part of an entry-level
server solution.  The price for the same is Rs 50,000 onwards with a
three-year warranty.

The DLT-V4 drive delivers 320 GB of compressed capacity and a
72 GB/hour compressed transfer rate. It has four times the capacity and three
times the speed of existing DAT 72 tape drives. It also has a SATA interface,
making it easier for customers to attach to entry-level

servers.

SafeNet launches Sentinel RMS

SafeNet introduced Sentinel RMS, a software rights management solution that
reduces or eliminates many of the costs normally associated with license
management by automating this process and integrating it with back-office
systems. It is a complete license management solution that includes components
for design, automated fulfillment, and ongoing management. This product offers
role-based management to access specific license management tasks.

Sentinel RMS is a new software licensing solution that offers

Creative unveils MP3/WMA players

Creative rolled out the Zen Micro, which are MP3/WMA players. It has 2.5 times
more song capacity, with 5GB of storage capacity and carries up to 2,500 (WMA,
64kbps) songs. It lets the listener choose MP3 or WMA music, ripped from CDs or
downloaded from online music sites.

The players have 50% more battery life, which delivers up to
12 hours of non-stop music playback, has a removable battery and comes in ten
colors-silver, black, red, orange, green, pink, purple, white, light blue or
dark blue. They have an intuitive vertical touch pad that gives vertical
scrolling to allow users to move through menus with the thumb. 

The MP3 players have a blue glow whenever the user turns on
the Touch Pad and has an FM radio too. It offers voice recording and has twice
the Internet music access as it supports both WMA and MP3 files. The Zen Micro
will support Auto Sync with Windows Media Player 10.

It also has a built-in address book, calendar and to-do
list. The player includes a belt clip that doubles as a stand, in-ear bass
response earphones, a carrying case, a USB 2.0 cable and a universal AC adapter.
It is available at an estimated street price of Rs 14,899.

ARM rolls out Cortex-A8 processor

ARM announced its new Cortex-A8 processor for next-generation mobile
devices. The speed and power efficiency of the Cortex-A8 processor is enabled by
new ARM Artisan libraries supporting Intelligent Energy Manager (IEM) technology
and implementing advanced leakage control.

The processor is supported by a wide range of ARM
technologies for rapid system design including RealView Developer software
development tools; RealView Architech ESL tools and models. It also has
CoreSight debug and trace technology and software library support through the
OpenMAX multimedia-processing standard.

 The Cortex-A8 processor is based on the next-generation
ARMv7 architecture, and features Thumb-2 technology for greater performance,
energy

efficiency, and code density. It includes the first implementation of the NEON
signal processing extensions to accelerate media codecs such as H.264 and MP3.

The solution also includes Jazelle-RCT Java acceleration
technology to optimize Just In Time (JIT) and Dynamic Adaptive Compilation (DAC),
and

reduces memory footprint by up to three times. Additionally, the new processor
features TrustZone technology for secure transactions and Digital Rights
Management (DRM) and IEM capability for low power.

It features a pipeline, which can execute multiple
instructions at the same time and deliver more than 2.0 DMIPS per MHz. The
processor integrates a size configurable level 2 cache, which works in
conjunction with fast 16K or 32K level 1 caches to minimize access time and
maximize throughput. The processor has dedicated NEON integer and floating-point
pipelines for media and signal processing. It will run at more than 600 MHz in
low-power 65nm processes with the core using less than 4 mm2 of silicon
(excluding NEON, Trace technology and L2 cache).

Symantec launches data protection solution

Symantec unveiled its Backup Exec 10d for Windows
Servers software, including the Backup Exec Continuous Protection
Server.

The solution eliminates backup windows, delivers
web-based end-user file retrieval functionality and offers
one complete disk-to-disk-to -tape data protection solution.

'Designed for Disk' Backup Exec 10d delivers the
Windows data protection by continuously protecting data in real-time.
Simplifying management and freeing IT resources, block level file
changes are automatically captured and protected. Utilizing disk-based data
protection methods, data backups and restores are faster and allow for
simultaneous backup of multiple servers.

Backup Exec 10d ensures continuous disk-based backup while
introducing new secure self-service data recovery leveraging Backup Exec
Retrieve, the new web-based file recovery tool
available with 10d. It allows users to recover lost, corrupted
or  overwritten  files  through  a  standard,
easy-to-use  web browser.

Backup Exec 10d enables IT organizations to utilize a
combination of disk and tape methods

device.

Nvidia debuts GPU motherboard solutions

Nvidia Corporation unveiled a core-logic motherboard solution, targeted at the
integrated computing markets. It combines the new Nvidia nForce 400 media and
communications processors (MCPs) with a new line of the Company's GeForce 6
series graphics processing units (GPUs).

With the nForce 400 and GeForce 6100 products forming the
technological foundation for the motherboard, global OEMs and system builders
are now able to design solutions for a variety of PC platforms. They include
mainstream offerings for Microsoft Media Center, convergence digital media
products in unique, small form-factors, and small office, home office

solutions.

Additionally, system builders and OEMs can promote their
systems as being HD Ready by integrating DVI and component outputs directly on
the PC for connection to a high definition display or television. 

This is made possible by integration of Nvidia Pure Video
technology, whose hardware acceleration engine enables smooth playback of HD
video, including Windows Media 9- and MPEG 2-based footage, with minimal CPU
overhead. The PureVideo technology also delivers advanced video features to the
PC-including advanced de-interlacing, inverse telecine, and scaling-rivaling
that of high-end consumer electronics DVD

Samsung launches CDMA handset

Samsung introduced its CDMA handset, NEO (SCH—N500) on Tata Indicom
platform. This phone is designed to speed up things with one-touch operations
and speed dialing. The NEO comes with features like Long Message Service (LMS)
in English and Hindi as well as a large 2,000 phone book memory.

The phone weighs 74 g, has an in-built antenna and PC
synchronization. An 'advanced shortcut' facility was added to N500 to allow
quick access to functions like dialing, SMS, calculator, scheduler and alarm.
The LMS facility allows a user to enter 405 characters (in English) and 135
characters (in Hindi). 'Quick SMS' allows the user to send a predefined
message to a predefined number by clicking a key four times.

The NEO offers 26 pre-loaded polyphonic ring tones. The 'Airplane
Mode' in the phone allows the user to use features as games and memo pad while
the calling/data facility is switched off. It is available with TATA Indicom's
'Non Stop Mobile' offer at price of Rs 2,999 with two years of free incoming
calls.

Sun introduces x64 enterprise-class systems

Sun Microsystems launched enterprise-class x64 (x86, 64-bit) multi-core
servers. The new industry-standard x64 multi-core server family begins with the
Sun Fire X2100, single-socket x64 rack-mount server, starting at Rs 43,975 and
includes the two-socket, 4-way Sun Fire X4100 and Sun Fire X4200 servers.
Additionally, the servers are qualified to work with Sun's comprehensive
portfolio of software, storage and network switches.

The new Sun Fire servers running Windows Server 2003 x64
Editions, Microsoft SQL Server 2005 and 64-bit applications on the Windows
platform help deliver 64-bit computing into the mainstream. Sun also announced
new offerings and promotions to help customers accelerate the deployment of high
performance computing (HPC) and Web services applications, providing a new way
of deploying Grid solutions, one rack at a time.

MCC Group unveils digital memory solutions

MCC Group launched digital flash memory cards for digital cameras, laptops, MP3
players, PDAs and mobile phones. It will be available through its dedicated
dealer and distribution network.

The memory cards have Single Level Cell (SLC) technology,
which enables video streaming and Internet facility. These cards are available
in 30X and 45X speeds and are priced at Rs 1,500 for a 128 MB card, Rs 2,700 for
a 256 MB card, Rs 4,500 for a 512 MB card and Rs 6,500 for a 1GB card.

MCC Flash Memory cards comprise of Compact Flash Cards (128MB—1GB)

Xerox debuts Docushare 4.0 Enterprise Content management
solution software

Xerox India launched DocuShare 4.0, a web based enterprise content management (ECM)
software as part of its Global Services' suite of offerings. It comes with a
advanced 'digital library' software tool that allows businesses instant
access to their document repositories and gives multiple users across the
enterprise the ability to edit documents collaboratively. The entry-level list
price for a DocuShare system is Rs 3 lakh upwards and can scale up to meet the
demands of enterprises depending on number of users and features.

With DocuShare 4.0, users can index, manage, store and share
electronic information created in such applications as Microsoft Word,
PowerPoint and Excel, and e-mail, image, sound and video files. It ensures that
only authorized users make changes to critical documents such as business
policies and legal contracts.

Once documents are uploaded to the server, they can be shared
